I refuse to take photos

Right now I'm revolted.

Utterly aghast.

A few weeks ago I had a dear friend over and we both heard something chomping, gnawing if you will, in the kitchen. I checked, and it wasn't Maxi-cat. It WAS however, an illusive litte rodent. I choose to think of it as a tailed Guinea Pig. I like guineas. Had many as pets and hand raised them from teeny little fellas. So cute! (Especially the ones with a cow lick!)

Anywho, I disgussed the problem with the husband of the family who promptly went to Bunnings to purchase a plethora of poisons and traps and who knows what else. He laid them with care, washed his hands multiple times and we breathed a sign of relief.

It's now dead.

Do you know how I know?

The smell. Somewhere in the kitchen, taking over the whole house.

We looked last night. Pulled the oven, the dishwasher, and all the pots and pans out. It HAD to be in that area. After hours of searching we gave up and had dinner.

This morning I was rudely awake at the butt-crack of dawn thanks to the critters, so I put the time to good use. It took several more hours but it is now found. NOT in the side we thought it was.

So now the poor husband has to clean up the giant mess made by cutting holes in cupboards. I fear another expensive trip to Bunnings will be made, but I don't care because the smell is G O N E ! Praise the Lord!

Oh, and this tailed Guinea Pig wasn't so cute. It was of the R variety. ICK!

Ah yes. Of the R variety. My Christian brother-in-law surprised me one day by announcing triumphantly, 'I've killed that SONOVABITCH RAT!' And that's what I call them now.

My dog killed one recently and left it on the lawn.

Oh yeah, I've been here too with the Mystery Smell of Death. I hate it. I'm very sensitive to it, and can smell a dead mouse in the roof from the room below. Nobody ever believes me, til I get up there and return with a stinky corpse.

Never had something as big as a R, though! Poor you.
